Bladeless, All-LASER LASIK
AIO is proud and excited to announce the newest addition to our refractive arsenal for LASIK, the WaveLight FS200 Femtosecond LASER. AIO can now offer to all of our patients, bladeless, ALL-LASER LASIK.
The Femtosecond laser used in all-laser LASIK directs tiny rapid pulses of infrared light to a precise depth within the cornea to create the flap. The depth is determined by the surgeon and is entered into the computer that controls the laser.
These high-energy light pulses separate corneal tissue at the molecular level by a process called photo-disruption, creating microscopic bubbles of carbon dioxide and water at their point of impact.
The laser moves back and forth across the eye creating a uniform layer of these bubbles at the junction between what becomes the back surface of the corneal flap and the underlying corneal tissue. The femtosecond laser creates 15,000 laser pulses per second. It features a faster flap creation time. The 200 KHz FS200 laser delivers precise, predictable outcomes. It also offers tailored performance. The laser offers adjustable hinge position and size, variable side-creation angles, flap sizes and shapes. This allows our surgeons to expand their treatment options. It combines a small focus with low pulse energy and a unique creating pattern for accurate flap edges and smooth stromal beds. Utilizing the proprietary beam control check, the WaveLight FS200 accommodates a wide range of patient variables for more consistent flaps.
